FORGET NEW YOU NEW ME, EMBRACE YOUR TRUTH!
Don’t be intimidated by the start of a New Year. It isn’t “New Year, New Me”, like there was something so wrong about you in the last year (or year before that), that now we need a whole new you! It is really more like, “New Year, Better Me” Yet, when the New Year approaches, we often feel the pressure of being “NEW” for those we love, for our careers, for our children, for our families, for our friends and even more so for ourselves. My 2019, in short, was hell.
I chose to go back to the adult film business after being retired for three years and having a child. That choice for me did not serve my highest good. Yes, you probably wonder how I can say that after 200 films, awards and years invested in my career. Well, have you ever had an ice-cream flavor you adored? You salivate when you think about it? Then, one day, it doesn’t taste the same.
In fact, it is actually kind of gross. So you try something else, and now this new flavor makes your soul sing the way the other flavor used to. Well, that’s the feeling I felt returning to that career. It pained me. I didn’t like how I felt. I felt numb.
Once I faced my self and felt my feelings, versus drowning them in substances, I could see clearly. I found courage and I left that business behind.
And felt much lighter.
I feel excitement about the New Year, what is possible, experiencing something new and becoming a better me. One way I am doing that is eliminating the word “hate” from my vocabulary in order to create positive vibrations. I am also allowing for enough time between commitments to reduce stress and anxiety. The “rush” energy creates so much anxiety, when some simple planning ahead gives me room to breath.
So some of my life hacks for a better me in 2020 are to Be courageous (face what intimidates us) - Removing low vibration words and connections (for me it is the word “hate”) - Be kind to yourself (pay attention to our needs and honor them)
Here are some other fun and helpful life hacks to a better you in 2020:
- Stretch in the morning and at night; just take a few breaths and try to touch your toes!
- I read recently having 8oz of water while your coffee brews can totally reset the way you feel and curb the jitters by not putting coffee in your body first thing. I have tried this one personally the past couple of days and realized that its a huge improvement to my stomach.
- Give yourself more credit! It is okay to trust yourself, your own intuition and follow your heart. It's not the age of following anymore. It's the age of creating your own path in whatever you feel comfortable in (in a loving way to yourself and to others). Some of us had a very hard time and still live in survival mode because we had to get through the chaos somehow. That’s ok. Forgive yourself and make yourself the best version that you possibly can.
